ABSENTEE VOTING

2024 Applications: State & Federal Elections Town Elections

NOTE: Do it all in one visit to the town clerk:
Fill out the application, get a ballot, vote, return the ballot to the clerk.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

  • Absentee ballots are available 30 days before an election

  • Ballots must arrive by 5pm on election day

  • Ballots can be delivered in person at the polls on election day

  • Use black ink to fill in the ovals on the ballot

  • Use 2 stamps if mailing to ensure it arrives

FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO VOTE FROM HOME

1. Send an application for absentee ballot

  • Use the online form, fill it in and print it: State & Federal Town

  • Get the application from the town clerk: in person; mail a handwritten request with signature; email an attachment with signature

  • Sign your application

  • Return your application to the town clerk in person, by US mail, by scanning and attaching to an emaii, or by fax.

In Nottingham

  • Confirm the town clerk received it by going to this link.

2. Receive your ballot

  • In person from the clerk or if by mail, it should arrive a couple days after the clerk gets your application.
    The packet will include:

  • the ballot, instructions

  • a smaller envelope with an affidavit on it

  • a larger envelope for mailing the ballot.

3. Vote as you would normally

  • Use black ink to mark your choices.

  • Put the ballot in the smaller affidavit envelope and seal it. On the affidavit, fill in the side for your reason for voting absentee. Sign the affidavit.

  • Enclose the smaller envelope in the larger envelope and seal it.

  • On the large outer envelope, if there is a label at the top left you are all set, otherwise fill in the name of the town or city where you are entitled to vote, write your full name, address and voting place in the upper left hand corner. Add two stamps for postage.

4. Return your ballot by 5 PM on election day, March 14

  • Mail your ballot 5-7 days before the election to the town clerk.

  • Or Drop it off at the town clerk’s office before election day (hours above).

  • Or Deliver it in person at the polls on election day by 5 PM.

5. Track your absentee ballot prior to election day

  • Track your absentee ballot request at this link. You can see when: (1) your request is received, (2) the ballot is mailed to you, and (3) your completed ballot is received by the clerk.
