Hiding votes from the public

Don’t you think you should know how your Executive Councilor votes? I do, and you’ll always know

This has been going on for years and we absolutely must end this practice. The public has the right to hold their Executive Councilor accountable, but we can’t do that if they vote in secret.  where I stand.

At this week’s Executive Council meeting, I brought to light the practice that allows an Executive Councilor to hide his votes from the public. That’s not right.

The Executive Council exists to bring transparency to state government. Every two weeks, every member of the public is invited to come to an open meeting of the Governor and Council to hear how state funds will be spent.

It was shocking to discover that a Councilor has been secretly hiding his votes from the public by submitting them, in writing, after the meeting.
